Dietitian / Nutritionist

Jennifer Temps is seeking an experienced Dietitian / Nutritionist for a temporary assignment with a public-sector program in Lower Manhattan, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Dietitian who is passionate about regulatory compliance, nutrition program oversight, training, and community-based food service operations.


Your Tasks
  • Review and evaluate food service operations and nutrition components for participating programs
  • Conduct on-site reviews of childcare centers, after-school programs, day care homes, adult day care sites, and shelters
  • Evaluate food service activities and provide nutrition guidance to support compliance
  • Provide training and technical assistance on record keeping, meal planning, and applicable regulations
  • Interpret records in accordance with program, State, and Federal requirements
  • Analyze findings from on-site reviews and prepare detailed written reports
  • Support contracted operations through nutrition-related review activities and recommendations
  • Maintain professionalism when working with program staff, providers, and the public
  • Perform duties in a fast-paced office setting using Microsoft Office and related computer systems
  • Travel monthly within the region as required

Our requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) Certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Experience in nutrition program oversight, food service evaluation, or regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition documentation, meal planning, and record review practices
  • Familiarity with Federal and State regulations related to nutrition or food programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness and ability to travel monthly for on-site reviews

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with CACFP or other government-funded nutrition programs
  • Experience reviewing operations in childcare, adult care, shelter, or community-based settings
  • Previous experience providing staff training and technical assistance
  • Experience preparing formal compliance or audit-related reports
  • Background working in public sector, nonprofit, or regulated food service environments

  • Competitive pay range of $38.00 - $48.00 per hour depending on experience
